This sounds spot-on. We could just get rid of the entire tracking industry, and ads wouldn't be any worse, if done right. Of course this won't happen on its own, so regulation would be required.
Tracking proponents will of course claim that feeding AI models with all that tracking data will fix this, so instead of getting rid of it, we're going to waste huge amounts of electricity. 😔
