It rips apart a lot of the code quality, particularly of the later rewrites (see attached screenshot).
It reminds me of their fear lots of hackers voice when being pushed to contribute - that people will laugh at their code. A post like this would see to confirm it.
But - WipEout and its shoddily written successors were wildly successful. 1/2
Deep down the source contains some sensible parts. I assume the track rendering and some of the physics where implemented first. What followed is some caffeine induced nightmare code written under immense time pressure. The 5000 lines of if else that handles the menu state is a striking witness to this insanity.
