I grew up in Fresno, CA and obviously no one ever taught us about the great Fresno Free Speech fight of 1910‒1911.
Apparently, the Wobblies came to town, making soapbox speeches and organizing poor laborers, so the city tried to outlaw public speaking for a year.
It's really wild how much we're not taught about the Civil War through WW1 era.
