After a bit more digging it seems that the snapista python wrapper for the gpt is out of date and fails on compressed tifs so that's out. But the gpt cli that comes with the default install is awesome so I'm thinking we would just need some kind of XML engine to build the graph nodes and wrap it in a more R-like API.... Sounds "easy" 😅. I'm thinking this would look a bit like the whitbox tools r package...
