Yesterday I went to the annual Stewart Father's Day Powwow 2024 at the old Stewart Indian School in Carson City, Nevada. It's really wonderful to see Natives displaying their culture and speaking their languages in a place that, from 1890-1934, strictly prohibited such activities. Here's two photos. The first is a young lady's traditional dancer and the second is a @ambivalena inspired long exposure.

Color portrait photo of a young Native woman at a powwow. She wears fairly heavy makeup. She has black hair with a fluffy white feather that sticks out (forward) from on top of her head. It's a head a shoulders photo and on the left side you can see she wears an elaborate beaded shawl. It is mostly white but going up her arm toward the shoulder are lines of beads in dark blue, light blue, yellow, orange, red, black, beige, and violet. At the bottom of the photo more elaborate bead work is seen which also includes some straight white bone tubes. In her right hand she holds an extremely elaborate beaded eagle feather fan. The dozen or so feathers are white at the bottom and dark brown in the upper three quarters. The base of the fan is made up of many geometric designs with colorful beads. The fan is held across her chest hiding the left shoulder.

This is a long exposure in black and white of a powwow dancer. You can see two ghostly faces that swoosh from right center to upper left. It's as though the dancer jumped and turned their head to their right during the exposure. A zig-zag beaded headband can be discerned from the photo. Everything else is a blur.
