A wasp-mimicking syrphid fly pauses to have a drink from a drop of water and have a biiiiig stretch.

We peer into the dimly-lit world under a bush, where we see some broad green leaves with surfaces undulating like rumpled cloth, and covered with a network of faint yellow veins. A sleek black and yellow insect stands on the foremost leaf. Its abdomen is a black spindle ringed by rounded ridges. The dips between the ridges are painted lemon-yellow. What a powerful looking little race car! The insect's thorax is black with triangular yellow accents, and its black head sports two bright yellow antennae, like the stamens of a flower. The legs reverse the color scheme, being mostly yellow with black bands. The two wings are swept back in a V. The are clear, half tinted with smoke. The insect's front legs are held up, stretched straight out in front of its body. On the leaf's surface beside the insect there's a drop of water.
