I used to be a language maven for decades - developer tools barely mattered to me, besides test runners. Then I started to adopt linters, autoformatters, type checking, and more powerful editors. So now I'm a bit of a tool maven too?
There was a sea change in tooling in the last decade. The language server protocol in particular was huge.
