Fun hack I want to remember.
Life is always better if you have an emulator for your target hardware. Even better if it can run your bootloader! But this requires understanding how the CPU boots.
I had a CPU with proprietary boot ROM that runs before the bootloader. So what did I do? Interrupted U-Boot and ran this:
md.b 0 17700
which dumped the first 96k of physical memory across the serial connection. I translated the text to binary. It runs in QEMU.
