@serpentos @Solus while I originally authored clr-boot-manager, it is quite old and obviously the current maintainers priorities are very different now, making the project a poor fit for a generic distro tool.
Amusingly I've actually discovered a number of bugs in the old impl, some of my own making. For example, reading systemd-boot variables from efivars is invalid, reading only half-words and skipping unsupported chars.
New Rust code is now portable and loads utf16le (ucs2) vars correctly
