I also don’t buy this “SNCF is only so customer unfriendly because of impending liberalisation”
If that *were* the case, SNCF would logically go out of its way to keep their customers sweet, to make the case further liberalisation is a bad idea
But no. They do customer unfriendly 💩 like refusing to sell tickets from state railways in neighbouring countries. This can only be malevolence and/or incompetence - it’s not liberalisation forcing this onto them!
