A few comments:
1) I was at a show in Las Vegas where this happened. EV did not "stop the concert" to make these remarks. He said them in between songs. Rock singers often speak to the audience between songs. EV also talked about his daughter between songs, and people in the audience who had seen dozens of PJ shows. It wasn't just this one subject, and it's not like he stopped the band in the middle of a song to go on a rant...
