Some thoughts about Month.

The text is the same as the alt-text for the image, since for some reason Mastodon lets me make that as long as I want, but the toot is limited.

Pride Month.

Pride Month. If you'd asked me, back in my high school days, if I knew any "gay" people, I'd have said no. I'd have been wrong. I'm sure that I knew several -- in fact I know today that some of the people I knew then where what we now call LGBTQ+. I'm sorry that those people weren't able to be themselves back then, and horrified at how I'd have probably thought about them if they had. There are many people in my community and my family who are in one way or another LGBTQ+ and they are all wonderful people. As those who I know, those who don't, and maybe those who haven't even told themselves yet, all get to be recognized for who they are this month, I hope all of us can recognize that while there's still a long want go, things have gotten better. My promise to that community is to not tolerate any attempt to go back to the days when they had to hide who they were. That and acceptance is all I can offer.
