There is a specific word that specifically means 'a book that was printed before the year 1500'.
That was a pleasing thing to learn. It's a pleasing word, too. An incunabulum.
Zoomed in on my print edition of the Oxford English Dictionary at the entry for Incunable: 'a book printed in the infancy of the art.' First recorded usage 1886. Examples of usage include from a publication "Books & Bookmen" in 1887: "Incunables! for you I sigh. Next entry is "incunabula". Plural subjunctive. "The earliest stages or first traces in the development of anything". There are various definitions including, 2. "(singular: incunabulum): Books produced in the infancy of the art of printing; specifically those printed before 1500."
