Today's historic of the day: N462 hauls a Melbourne-bound broad gauge VLine passenger made up of ex-SAR K class carriages. I didn't record the exact date or location, but I believe this was taken between Ardeer and Sunshine in March 1986.

Judging by the carriage set, this train was probably a short distance run from Bacchus Marsh to Melbourne, or it could possibly have been from Ballarat. If I have the location correct, it is just west of Sunshine, about 14km from Melbourne.

A black and white photo taken looking over a lineside cyclone wire fence of a diesel loco-hauled train heading towards us along a double track mainline railway. The train, which has a VLine N class loco on the front, comprises five or six carriages and is traversing a dip in the railway with the loco heading slightly uphill whilst the rear car seems to still be headed downhill.
