I gave a talk at Cornell after I made this map - about mapping non-spherical objects. At the time Peter Thomas and his group were developing SPUD, a program for deriving shape models which combined stereo shapes where feasible and the limb-modelling I was doing. They were much better than me and I soon stopped trying to do shapes and focused on the map part of the problem. Carl Sagan was in the room and after it he asked for copies of the Halley maps. Too bad he got the defective ones...
