Temples may change religion due to military conquest, like when the Christian Hagia Sophia of Constantinople became a Turkish mosque, or when the Great Mosque of Cordoba became a Christian cathedral.
However, sometimes no war is necessary. Both the round ancient Roman Temple of Hercules Victor to the left here and its neighbour, the Temple of Portunus to the right served as Christian churches for centuries.
