Then read up on all of the other ways that emergency providers fail to treat all patients the same. We regularly treat people of color differently, and it is reflected in worse outcomes.
So, when it comes to race or ethnicity, it is key that emergency medicine providers recognize systemic and implicit bias, and make a conscious effort to do better.
When you see someone who looks different than you, take a second to recognize bias and be extra careful.
