After considering a dedicated GPS device for hikes I came to the conclusion that nothing justifies it over a smartphone + battery packs.
The battery life and functionality of a modern smartphone with battery saver and airplane mode switched on easily outperforms any handheld GPS navigation device on the market.
And you get a ton of software choice.
Prove me wrong.
