I found an old book tonight I had buried on the Horten 229. It was an experiential (and close to fully operational) aircraft built by the Germans in 1944. Could travel just below the speed of sound and out maneuver any aircraft plus it was quasi stealth. Could have been a game changer in WW2. Thankfully it never saw combat but served as a precursor for stealth aircraft once US got its hands on it after the war
