At this time of year the challenge is making sure the babies get enough food without letting the mammas get too much food 😅 but we have to remember that ground squirrels are in the marmot family and their body type is very different from tree squirrels. Having said that, some mammas really need to chill on the walnuts!
A mamma ground squirrel is caught up on the sawhorse eating the fox squirrels walnuts. She’s a misshapen lump with a chagrined expression on her face, vaguely pear shaped I guess. She knows those walnuts are not for her.
