The "Goth Basil" mentioned in the previous post is has prodigiously reseeded itself and become a beautiful nuisance in my garden. I got it from a local gardener at an Earth Day fair a couple of years ago and enjoyed cultivating it, but it apparently LOVES my back porch garden and has now become a bit much *lol*. Looking forward to making purple pesto though.

The "Goth basil" mentioned in the post this is a response to has taken over this raised bed. It is a purple basil hybrid that I received from its creator (a local gardener) at a "Take A Plant, Leave A Plant" stand at an Earth Day fair a couple of years ago. This basil gets pretty tall, and the tallest plant shown here is probably 2 feet high or so and still growing. The full-size leaves are huge, ruffled, and turn purple in the sun. The leaves on most of these plants are a wine-dark purple. This plant is extremely heat and drought tolerant (although it does like a little bit of shade) and has reseeded itself all over my garden to the point it has actually become a (beautiful) bit of a nuisance.
