Timothy Snyder, historian of Eastern Europe and scholar of authoritarianism, has a new book coming out, On Freedom, this September. Random House Penguin has a page up for it with links to preorder. Anything Snyder writes is worth reading. This seems particularly promising and important in a world where the Stanford Internet Observatory gets shut down in a textbook example of obeying in advance, which Snyder warned about as the first item in his book On Tyranny.
