Okay, I’m still riffing. What if the stove really is hot, and touching it really will burn you? Is it then acceptable to form a social group predicated on not touching the stove?
I would say no. Obviously warn your kids about the hot stove, but when people are more afraid of being ostracized than being burned, you’ve screwed up.
Is anyone going to become a chef if they think touching a hot stove is the worst thing you can do?
Is the work of food preparation going to be properly valued?
