didn't get any great aurora photos last night (almost feels like half this sprawling region's light pollution is **deliberate** 😤) but noticed how cool our clump of irises were looking today at least 🙂↔️
a big floppy purple (/burgundy?) flower with mottled yellow towards its core. floating in the shade in a very informal garden (e.g. the side of a blue kiddy pool used to contain mint is visible in the background)
a purple/yellow iris viewed from a different angle (even more of the kiddy-pool mint-er-arium in frame as well as a trampoline in the yard behind) and from this angle you can see more into the iris, one of its big showy petals hanging down like a tongue and a poofy bright-yellow stamen or something almost like a caterpillar crawling down its throat. it just looks cool though, not gross or anything unless you overthink it
an almost pure white iris, in the shade but somehow still catching some light from the back. its petals are big and poofy too but almost more open than the purple ones. its throat caterpillar is also just plain white, everything almost stunningly so fresh and clean. behind the open white flower is a rolled up one not yet blooming.
