The excuse is "people don't always want the best of the best. A lot of the time they want to pay less, even if it's a lower-quality product."
That isn't true. I promise it isn't.
People don't *want* to pay less. They feel *forced* to by the material fact of scarcity. They pay less so they don't starve. If money were no object, people would choose high-quality over low-quality every time.
